Supporting the Great Central Railway in Nottinghamshire for current and future generations...
The LNER (GC) Heritage Trust supports almost 10 miles of heritage railway running through the beautiful scenery of South Nottinghamshire and North-West Leicestershire. Heritage Steam and Diesel services recreate the experience of train travel from times gone by. Complimented by a heritage road transport collection, miniature and model railways, the railway provides a unique interpretation of our past to educate current and future generations. Entirely staffed by volunteers, all income is used to preserve railway and transport heritage for the future of all.
The railway is at an exciting point in it's development, looking forward to fulfilling the original aims of it's founding members by reconnecting with the Great Central Railway - the worlds only preserved double track main line railway - and creating an eighteen mile railway, linking Nottingham and Leicester. With a main line connection at Loughborough and National Railway Museum being established at Leicester, the Greater Great Central will be a key national attraction, interpreting main line railways and heritage transport for current and future generations. The railway is also is at a crucial point because this fantastic opportunity requires your support to make the required development happen. Please help if you can.
